Hello everyone.
Last year I was talking to Mr Cawley during English as I had finished early and was drawing realistic fruit. He asked me to draw him a dragon for a book he wrote for kids around year 2 at school. (If I can remember???? :) ) So I took that task on board and this is what I came up with.

After I gave Mr Crawley my design ideas I suggested that he should publish his book so, as my next side project like my NEW MOON artwork I decided to illistrate his book, page by page. So far I've got to page 8 not including the title page. Going slowly but it's comming along quite well.
It's lots of fun to do as it gets my mind off school and swimming as that takes up practically my whole day so it is very relaxing. I'm so glad I started it. Since I told my friends about it Lorraine, one of my many BFF's, wrote a song to play in the background and it is truely a work of art. She ended up winning the 12-13yrs age group in a composers competion. Well done to you Lorraine. We have been working together a lot to pull this together. She also suggested an audio book which I think would be great.
Will have to think of what to do after I complete this project.
Annyone got any ideas?????
:)
Bye for now.

Hello again.

I finished my artwork and we are now on a new project.
The steps taken are as Follows:
The steps taken are as Follows:
- A photo was taken of me in my chosen pose...

My Painting is really good. I've painted the face quite well. I dotted my pink background with white and cream dots, and it looks quite good. I asked my friends opion on it and they said it was "aesthetically pleasing". Then we all had a laugh. Creating the dots was very relaxing and it was during 'Annie' when there was only 7 girls in the class as everyone else was out performing. With a such a small group everything was very relaxing and quite, just the way I like it. Mr Crawley came down one lesson and had a look at our small group of seven girls creative works. I think he was very impressed with what the group had done.

After I finished my artwork I needed a new project as everyone else was still on their paintings so I decided to do my own painting of the NEW MOON flower on the cover of Stephanie Myers twilight series book. It looks very good I think considering I've never painted realistic flowers before.

During term 2 we had an art test and I did pretty well I recon. Then we started our next project. Creating a sculpture of our self. Mine is doing butterfly as I love swimming, especially 50 meter Butterfly races.
Here are the steps taken:
- Metal Wire was shaped into a metal bone structure for my body.
- Using a photograph of my position for butterfly I bent the sculpture into the desired shape.
- Then I started using news paper strips and musking tape to create body structure and muscle tone.
- Then I used paper mache to build up my muscles and to harden my sculpture so it will not bend out of shape.

Hello again.
Since my first post my artwork has changed dramatically.
Now it is almost complete. I finished drawing the negative spaces and have painted most of the artwork.
I must say, it turned out better than i thought it would.
When it comes to drawing people i'm not that confident in myself.
But it turned out great so far.
I have to finish it next term because i'm not going to be there for our last lesson.
Some of the painting i did looked good because i managed to different tones of colour.
I can't wait until it's finished.

Hello.
I am Catherine and this year in grade 8 I have Mrs Vincent as my teacher.
So far this year I have created a really cool title page which looks like two splotches of paint turning into my name and the word art. Also we had aunty Sally help us for two weeks. She is a aboriginal painter and was part of the stolen generation. She made a few paintings while sheh was with us. There were a few that I loved. One was a medow full of wild floweres and the lother was a tree on the side of a river at the bottom of a gorge. I loved the wild flower dot painting so much I wish I could have taken it home with me.
Aunty Sally also showed us how to creeate a more realistic yet blured painting of ourselve. On of the things she did was hold the photograph upside down so she was using righ brain which is the more creative side and it's less technical. Also she did not draw the girl first (positive space) she drew the negative space before adding details to the drawing of the girl. From this everyone in the class is now painting themself. Aunty ASally told me mine would be a little bit hard to draw and create but i'm giving it a go. So far I have drawn most of what I think is the negative in a box I drew on the black painted craft paper. I think it looks pretty good for the first time doing this kind of work.
